Start now, with what you’ve got…

I love this quote from Pablo Picasso, although, when I found it there were a few memes that quoted Vincent Van Gogh as the originator.  I decided to make my own meme and leave it with Pablo.  The main thing is the truth of it that resonates for me in the way I have approached my contribution to the world and my personal passions.

While always a work in progress, I believe I may have finally realised that perfection is a myth, and that there will never be a perfect time to be who we want to be in the world, other than this moment, right now.

So I’ve got this blog that’s a little bit slap up, that wanders from topic to topic, and that lies dormant for periods of time, (attached to a website that I love :).  I’ve got an Instagram gallery that hasn’t necessarily followed a set pattern, hasn’t had consistent font, has no amazing design features.  A Facebook page that is really just an extension of my Instagram feed.  And all of them have changed names since I first started.

But one thing I have made sure of is that I’m clear about my “why”, which is a strong belief in the sharing of wisdom, in whatever form it may take, and this is because of the times in my own journey when the right words, at the right time, made all the difference to me.

Therefore every single thing I’ve ever offered, whether from my own perspective or shared from another’s perspective, reflected what was authentically me right then, or what was in alignment with what I have come to understand throughout my own personal learning via countless teachers.

Which leads me back to Picasso’s (or Van Gogh’s ?) quote.  It has been throughout this process that I’ve been learning as I go.  I have allowed myself to continue to contribute, no matter how inconsistently, or imperfectly, while watching & learning from the very same world I was contributing to (not to mention raising a family at the same time!) all of which has helped me to embrace the journey instead of being hung up on the outcome.

I’m getting there, with consistency, with streamlining, and with prioritizing, until then I will continue to do things I have not done in order to learn how to do them. And I implore you to do the very same, so I leave you with this …

“Start now.  Start where you are.  Start with fear.  Start with pain.  Start with doubt.  Start with hands shaking.  Start with voice trembling, but start.  Start and don’t stop.  Start where you are with what you have.  Just… start.”    Ijeoma Umebinyuo
